Kelly Maxwell grew up in Kuna, ID, on his grandparent’s farm, where he learned the value of hard work. From an early age, he enjoyed nature and exploring all it has to offer, always anticipating the wonder around each corner in epic playgrounds such as Owyhee and Sawtooth mountain ranges. His explorations deepened his love for nature and the vast Snake River plains.
In late 2000, while working as a paramedic in Georgia. Kelly’s wife, Cathy, asked if he could build rustic furniture for his stepdaughter’s wedding. Over the next few months, he built several pieces, from simple log tables to log benches. Although he had no formal woodworking training, he jumped into furniture building.
Kelly Maxwell, Furniture maker
Encouraged by friends and family, he began selling his rustic furniture at craft fairs. While working at Littlebranch Farm, he designed a line of natural wood furniture, such as dining tables, beds, and vanities made from live edge wood and other discarded natural materials. While Kelly Maxwell is not against controlled selective harvesting, he believes in being responsible for the environment by using natural materials discarded in nature and salvaged and dead-standing trees. After many years of honing his skills as a furniture maker, he still learns something new each day as he looks for the perfect rustic artisan furniture design!
