Maple Burl Dining Table

September 7, 2020 by Kelly Maxwell

Nothing compares to the warmth and stability of natural wood and this maple burl dining table. While burls are not common, burl wood of this size is extremely rare. Stunning best describes this unique burl wood table, which will seat 6 comfortably or a cozy 8. The bubbly wood grain, along with the delicate live edge, is sure to be a crowd stopper. By the luck of the draw, this is one of 5 wood slabs in this sequence.

This measure burl wood slab measures 84″ long, 63″ wide, and finished at 2″ thick. Rich colors of tan, brown, and cream blend through the bubbly burl wood grain pattern indicative to bigleaf maple burl slab.

I selected a western cedar tree stump as the base. But he decided to spice it up by adding a fire char to the tree stump base. The silky black of the fire-charred tree stump created an artistic pedestal. Thus, allowing the burl wood slab to be the star of the show. This dining table will surely be a crowd stopper.

Custom burl wood furniture design using ethically sourced natural wood native to the U.S.

Burlwood furniture, while not common it is stunning. Typically, made from veneer or thinly sliced wood then attached to plywood for furniture making. I never use veneer, only real solid wood slabs. My artisan rustic furniture design features natural live edge wood slab, antlers, tree stumps, and natural materials found in nature.
