Oak Rustic Modern Console Table

September 7, 2020 by Kelly Maxwell

Rustic modern console table

This rustic modern console table is handcrafted from ethically sourced black oak wood planks. The table design uses flawed natural wood planks balanced with clean lines, which lends to this straightforward, functional furniture design. With rustic furniture being simple or plain made, I wanted to stay true to this natural wood table. Utilizing black oak live-edge wood slabs, I cut them into wood planks, leaving some live edge and cutting off the balance.

A great example of mixed live edge and clean line cut wood planks.

While trees and live-edge wood producers are a dime a dozen, I stay true to my ethical sourcing beliefs. To me, sustainability depends on this practice. Achieved through gleaning the forest floor and selective harvesting, including dead-standing trees. This, along with progressive forest management and replanting, will ensure a sustainable future for rustic modern, and natural wood furniture.

Simplistic design allows for maximum table functionality.

At the same time, this 60″ long by 15″ deep multi-level console table has an open table-top shelf at 23″ ad 37″. Thus, options such as walnut, maple, and redwood are also available, along with configuration options. So, why not have fun and end the end to get what you want? Also, remember, I only use natural finishes that show off the wood grains.

Reminiscent of a simple mid-century table design.
